Started from the bottom . . .

I suppose this pink is a bit more than a "pop" of color . . .

I started this outfit from the bottom up, literally - shoes then pants, etc, etc.

I felt like I needed something to tie the shoes to the ensemble so I added the pink top. In retrospect, I don't think the shoes really needed a tie in, but I think the look still worked.

Jump(er) to it

I tend to be leery of jumpsuits and have struggled to find cuts and silhouettes that I like.

I found this little number on asos and I kinda love it! I have a thing for a baggy/peg legged/jogger style pant and this fits the bill perfectly. The fit is easy and laid back and the print is pretty neutral. It would be fun to play round with bold colors.

I topped it with a blazer to dress it up a bit but be assured this piece will make several appearances this summer, sans blazer.

Me - trying to find balance and soar, simultaneously. lol!

The Adventures of Promys the Dog - the humpapottamus

Promys is our 13 lb yorkie. We love him to pieces!!! But, he is a chronic humper.

We recently had our apartment redecorated which included the addition of a lovely faux fur rug. This was the original layout.

But everyday we'd come home to this:
EVERY DAY!

So I had the bright idea to put the rug on the ottoman thinking, "surely he won't jump up here to hump this thing!"

I was wrong.

African Print

I had the privilege of visiting several countries in Africa for my 13th birthday. It was somewhat of a rites of passage, if you will, to come into my teenage years in the land of my ancestors. That said, I remember my mom and I admiring all of the beautiful printed and textured fabrics. We had a couple of outfits custom made but none as beautiful as the pieces I've discovered at DemestiksNewYork. I first learned about Demestiks from a blog post from the beautiful Folake Huntoon of Style Pantry.

When I found Demestiks I was simultaneously overjoyed and overwhelmed. I wanted everything in every print and color way, stat! After coming to my senses, I was able to pull it together and ended up with 3 pieces, one of which I'm wearing here.

I'm still looking for the perfect belt to wear with this coat dress. I tried a black one but just didn't like the way it looked with the navy in the print.

Thoughts?
